Having a rich experience of over three decades of working in the Indian corporate world, Mr Ashok Upadhyaya over the years has acquired wide-ranging experience working in various capacities and locations in India as SBU head and handling big geographical areas independently. The major part of his corporate journey, with JK Tyre and Reliance Industries, has enriched and made him an expert of formulating business strategies and deploying of resources to achieve organisational objectives for mutual benefits. Developing and launching new projects and identifying new potential market segments are embodied in his work culture.
Graduated from BHU (Geography Honours) and pursued Diploma in Management with Computer Application from Manipal University, Mr Upadhyaya is a certified Independent Director from Indian institute of Corporate Affairs (Under the Aegis of Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India) .
A fervent reader, has a fondness for Indian classical music, culture and literature, enjoys travelling and is a passionate motorist driving specially to the places close to nature.
Inheritance
Originally from Varanasi. He comes from a renowned family (both from his paternal and maternal side) of freedom fighters and Gurus of vedic and astrological studies having a history of nearly 200 years in the ‘cultural capital of India, Varanasi’. Family also owns the Rishikesh Panchang, the most trusted and one of the oldest almanacs in the country. His father Late Pt. Ram Bhadra Upadhyaya had been a renowned social and political activist who led the family business and the legacy to new heights following the footsteps of grandfather Pt Nagesh Upadhyaya.
Family
Settled in Ahmedabad for more than a decade. He is blessed with two daughters. Ananya the elder one has done her BTech, is now working with an MNC Fortune 500 company. The younger Astha has done her Bsc in Food Science and Nutrition (hons.) and is now pursuing her MSc in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics from Mumbai. His wife Pragya is managing an NGO Eka India actively involved with “Prayas” a social initiative of IIM Ahmedabad educating underprivileged children.
